چکیده

We define and study a real-time producers/consumers problem, where the production/consumption relations are nondeterministic. In other words, a consumer can get one unit of resources from any one of the producers, and one producer can provide one unit of resources for any one of the consumers. Furthermore, a producer for one type of resourcesmight be the consumer for another type of resources. A class of fresh resourceallocation policies is developed not only tomake resources available for periodic real-time tasks but also to control the resource freshness. We first model the real-time scheduling problem as a feasible minimum cost flow (MCF) problem. Then, by defining the linear cost function differently, we get resource allocation policies for making trade-offs between resource freshness and task schedulability. Finally, we show that our result can be used to extend the priority ceiling protocol (PCP) to work with general unbounded semaphores, whereWait and Signal operations need not be in pairs in one task.

Non-Sharable Resource Freshness in Real Time Scheduling

We propose, DONUT, a real-time producers/consumers model, as an abstract model for developing real-time scheduling and resource allocation techniques in the domain of real-time network management. Under this model, we consider not only the availability but also the freshness of the consumed resources (i.e., “donuts”). Given a resource type <, two quantitative measures are defined to evaluate th...

ارزیابی سیاست‌های زمان‌بندی در نسل چهارم شبکه‌های سلولی (LTE)

New generation of wireless networks, LTE and WiMAX, supports many services which consume a lot of resources (such as VOIP, Video Conference, Digital Video, Multimedia streams and online Multi-player Games). Supporting multi-media services in wireless communication systems provide new resource allocation challenges. Because of high loads in downlink, efficient resource allocation is vital in dow...

A Multi-Mode Resource-Constrained Optimization of Time-Cost Trade-off Problems in Project Scheduling Using a Genetic Algorithm

In this paper, we present a genetic algorithm (GA) for optimization of a multi-mode resource constrained time cost trade off (MRCTCT) problem. The proposed GA, each activity has several operational modes and each mode identifies a possible executive time and cost of the activity. Beyond earlier studies on time-cost trade-off problem, in MRCTCT problem, resource requirements of each execution mo...

A multi-objective resource-constrained project scheduling problem with time lags and fuzzy activity durations

The resource-constrained project scheduling problem is to find a schedule that minimizes the project duration subject to precedence relations and resource constraints. To further account for economic aspects of the project, one may add an objective of cash nature to the problem. In addition, dynamic nature and variations in real world are known to introduce uncertainties into data. Therefore, t...
